You Want It Darker
A downloadable game
Look, I don’t know what to tell you. One of you kicked the bucket and one of you is trying to bring that person back from the dead. One of you is in love with a ghost, and one of you is pulling the strings. It’s certainly possible that it could work. It’s also possible that everything goes horribly wrong. What an utter delight.
"You Want It Darker" is a GM-less role-playing game based on a playlist of songs about death, dying, and what comes after. Players take on the roles of the ghost, the sorcerer, the lover, and the dealer and collaboratively tell the story of an attempted resurrection, building relationships and weaving the fabric of the universe along the way. As each new song plays, there are new questions and new complications.
Death is predictable because we know it’s coming for all of us. Death is unpredictable because we’re immortal until proven otherwise.

Hi! I played this game a year ago and it was perhaps one of the most meaningful games I've played to date. The system is so unique and easy enough to pick up on that anyone could play it, and the flexible player count makes it easy to find a group for.
I wanted to ask, would it be alright if I made a version of this game? I love the system of questions to ask with songs and fixed time limits to answer, and would love to use it in a game (with credit to this game of course!). Let me know if this is ok!
Oh my goodness what a kind compliment! Please iterate on this game however you'd like. I can't wait to see what you create.
Thank you so much! I’ve just published the game here!
