A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

NOTE: THE ONLY DATA SAVED IS THE MAXIMUM LEVEL EVER REACHED, WHICH IS GONE TO WHEN YOU CLICK CONTINUE

Blip is a logistics puzzle game requiring you to undertake the logical work of dealing with computer bits. You are the Bits Logistics Implementation Program, or B.L.I.P for short!

This is the first game I have ever made. Doing a gamejam was a great way to learn!

Submitted for the Godot Wild Gamejam #37

Gamejam-specific stuff - only one Wildcard was chosen; Time Dilation.

Controls

There are no in-game control tooltips, unfortunately. ArbyG has some dialogue to help out, but the controls are:

  • WASD to move,
  • E or H to interact,
  • Number keys (row or numpad) to select machine (and click to build),
  • X or Del to enter destruction mode (and click to destroy),
  • C or Q to cancel build mode,
  • R and Shift+R rotate clockwise and anticlockwise.

Credits

  • SFX made on sfxr.me
  • Music made on beepbox.co by my girlfriend
  • Art made in Aseprite
  • Character Design by my girlfriend
  • Huge thanks to the broad range of tutorials available for Godot!

This is pretty slick. I like the layout and the hotkey placement and I think that with some polish, you can use this as a fun way to teach people about computer hardware.

From an experience standpoint, I have one big note:

When you 'solving' the puzzle, you have to wait for the "victory" to load (all the bits entering the machine). This can okay if the puzzle is challenging, so just watching the execution of your work becomes a reward (like setting up dominos to watch them fall), but it doesn't work in cases like this. Even having the "speed up" button is just a band-aid on the underlying issue. Think about how you can make it so there is player tension until the last bit enters the machine.

Congrats on your first game, man! It's pretty good and it's better than my first game lol. And I envy your teamwork between you and your GF lol ðŸ’– :)
