Family pulls hilarious luggage prank on dad at airport: ‘People kept laughing’
They’ll be unpacking this one for a while.
A Missouri family went viral online after a daughter played the prank of a lifetime on her dad at an airport.
Kelsey Thorne came up with a vivid way to poke fun at her father Mike Bone, who is colorblind and often has trouble identifying his suitcase among the many others on a baggage carousel.
Before the family took a trip to the Dominican Republic, Thorne, her brother and her mom pasted gigantic stickers — depicting her father’s smiling face and the message “Help my dad find his luggage!” in big, capitalized letters — on Bone’s bags at home.
“While my mom distracted my dad, I placed the sticker on his suitcase and packed it into the car,” she told Fox Digital.
“My dad dropped us off at the front [of the airport] as he went to park, and we were able to sneak his suitcase out then.”
When he was ready to retrieve the luggage from the carousel at Punta Cana International Airport, many bystanders were happy to oblige the hilarious request and directed him to his bag.
“At first, he was confused as people kept laughing, looking at him and yelling, ‘Here’s your suitcase,’” Thorne said.
Meanwhile Bone, a realtor, had only one thought on his mind at the time — where he could get more stickers of his face for his business.
“I don’t think any of us could stop laughing,” Thorne added.
She posted the incident to TikTok, where it has amassed more than 8 million views.
“He’s so lucky to have me as a daughter,” she wrote in text over the 29-second viral video.
“Even at 30, it’s still fun to mess with your parents!” she added in the clips’s caption.
In the comments, Thorne joked to a viewer that she had never before “seen so many happy smiling people at baggage claim!”
But she also realized a downside to the stunt.
“It was my favorite prank I’ve done to him I think!” she admitted, before adding, “Hehe now I gotta try to top this one somehow.”
