Kodai Senga builds up pitch count ahead of Mets debut vs. Marlins

Here are some nuggets from Mets spring training on Monday:

Senga shines

Kodai Senga threw 72 pitches in an intrasquad scrimmage at Clover Park, deploying his signature forkball 12-15 times after backing off the pitch recently because of soreness at the base of his right index finger.

The right-hander will be in position to throw 90 pitches in his major league debut against the Marlins on Sunday, according to Buck Showalter.
