Twitter account of late Herman Cain deletes post downplaying COVID-19

The Twitter account of the late Herman Cain — who died recently after being hospitalized with the coronavirus — declared Sunday that the bug is “not as deadly as the mainstream media made it out to be,” according to a report.

The Sunday post on Cain’s Twitter account, which is supervised by the former Republican presidential candidate’s family and friends, was later deleted, but various media outlets posted screen grabs, The Hill reported.

The deleted tweet included a link to a story published by the Western Journal reporting that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 94 percent of people who died from the illness had underlying conditions.

On Monday, the conservative businessman’s account tweeted a link to a post on the Herman Cain website, written by its editor, who claimed that the “second wave” of the virus “hasn’t come close to the original spike, and it isn’t showing signs it will.”

“The summer ‘second wave’ (if that’s what it was) never got near the severity of the initial wave, and it already seems to be mostly on the wane,” Dan Calabrese wrote.

Health experts have said the first wave of the outbreak is still ongoing, The Hill noted.

Cain, the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, tested positive for COVID-19 after he attended President Trump’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 20. He was photographed in the stands without a mask.

It is not known where Cain contracted the illness. He died July 30.
