Republicans pressure White House to discuss Putin meeting

Congressional Republicans are pushing President Trump to reveal what happened behind closed doors at his one-on-one summit meeting with Russian ruler Vladimir Putin — unsettled by the White House’s silence as the Kremlin issues hints about “important verbal agreements” between the two.

“The White House better get out in front of this before the Russians start characterizing this,” Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) told The Hill. “The Russians will use this.”

The White House has issued no statements about what, if anything, was decided at Monday’s summit — sparking demands from Democrats for the president’s translator to spill the beans.
