Teen charged in death of baby she abandoned

A 14-year-old from New Jersey abandoned her infant boy in front of a home and is being charged in his death, Middlesex County Prosecutors said Tuesday.

Police found the baby boy alive in front of a Highland Park home Monday afternoon. The infant was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died. Officials didn’t say whose home it was.

The Highland Park teen — whose name was not released because she is a minor — “caused the death of her newborn baby boy,” prosecutors said, without providing more details about what caused his death.

The girl was charged with murder in the first degree in a juvenile complaint. She is being held at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center until her first court appearance tomorrow.

This is the second grim discovery made by New Jersey police this week.

Trenton Police are hoping to identify a two-day-old baby boy found alive and stuffed in a duffel bag Sunday, NJ.com reported.

Cops are also looking for insight into the identity of a 10-month-old girl who was found dead in a suitcase near PATH tracks in Jersey City last week.
