A 200-pound black bear that was seen roaming around Yonkers early Wednesday was later captured and tranquilized after its three-day trek, according to a report.

The bear was seen prowling around Desmond Avenue near the Bronx River Parkway when cops arrived and confronted the startled animal.

It clambered up a tree and was hit by a tranquilizing dart about 3 a.m., WABC-TV reported.

Officials with the Department of Environmental Conservation said the animal was foraging for food near New York City.

“A bear is nothing more than a large raccoon,” said Tom Koepf of the DEC. “If there’s food out they’re going to eat it, they’re just scavengers. You’ve got to have your garbage clean, you can’t have bird-feeders in your yard, you don’t want the bears coming through.”

The bear, which was taken to DEC headquarters in New Paltz, will be released in the Cranberry Mountain State Forest in Putnam County, the report said.
