‘Bubble boy’ Crane withdraws

Hopefully it was not a New York Post jinx, but Ben Crane, whose creative video prowess was profiled yesterday, was forced to withdraw from The Barclays during his second round yesterday at Liberty National because of a lower back injury.

Crane, who entered the week as the 125th and final seed in the FedEx Cup playoffs and needed a finish somewhere in the top 40 this week to advance to next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship, filmed an hysterical video of himself on Tuesday called “Bubble Boy’’ that has been a YouTube sensation.

He shot 67 in his opening round but managed to get through just four holes in 2-over in his second round before retiring.

“I’ve been battling a disk injury and just got to where I couldn’t play,’’ he said. “It was coming on. I just felt it coming on. I’m just disappointed, just bummed. I mean, I just figured some stuff out this week, and was really excited about it. It showed up in the first round, and then, you know, obviously not feeling good prevents you from doing what you want to do.

“There’s a level of pain that you just can’t take anymore.’’
