B’klyn woman who stole from PTA sued for not paying rent

The Brooklyn woman who stole more than $80,000 from a PTA and faces jail if she can’t pay it back has more financial and legal woes as her business is being sued for non-payment of rent.

Providence Hogan, 44, is already in danger of losing a no-jail plea deal for ripping off PS 29 in Cobble Hill because she can’t make the $40,000 down payment on restitution.

Now her Atlantic Avenue business, the Providence Day Spa, is in danger of eviction because of a rent arrears of more than $40,000 and counting, according to court documents made public today.

Prosecutors in the criminal case said that Hogan used the money for fertility treatments and to pay the rent on the day spa — $5,811 a month according to papers filed in Brooklyn Housing Court.

At her last criminal court appearance, Hogan’s lawyer floated the possibility of Hogan pleading guilty without a deal in place.

Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Suzanne Mondo promised Hogan would then go to jail.

Given the lack of cash to make a deal and the precarious situation of her business, it’s unlikely Hogan would be able to make any restitution.

Her lawyer did not return a call for comment.

Hogan returns to Housing Court on Sept 12. Her next appearance on the criminal matter is Oct. 3.
