SI tot gets ma in toxic ‘jam’

A 3-year-old Staten Island girl accidentally spiked a homemade jelly sandwich with her mom’s powerful painkillers — and nearly fed it to a neighborhood pal, authorities said yesterday.

“I’m sick to my stomach. I would never hurt anybody’s child,” said the tot’s mom, Denise Manzella, who wound up being arrested for endangering the welfare of a child.

Manzella, a bartender who takes Oxycodone for back injuries, told The Post that she was making Smucker’s strawberry-jelly sandwiches with her two daughters, ages 3 and 5, in their Heartland Village home around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

While Manzella, 28, helped her 5-year-old in the bathroom, the younger girl grabbed two pain pills off the microwave.

The tot added the pills to a sandwich she shared with two neighborhood girls, ages 3 and 7 — whose alert grandma saved them by finding the pills.
