A Kips Bay woman endured a predawn nightmare when a homeless man raped and robbed her at knifepoint after breaking into her apartment, cops said yesterday.

Luis Rodriguez, 24, allegedly barged into the apartment on Lexington Avenue near 28th Street at 4 a.m. Thursday.

He brandished a knife, tossed the woman onto a bed and raped her, cops said. He then allegedly swiped her cellphone, credit card and TV before fleeing. Police busted him the next day.

A man was shot dead in the East Village in broad daylight yesterday.

Bahiem Covington, 33, was shot in the face at 11:30 a.m. on East Third Street near Avenue D. Cops nabbed two men at the scene, while two others fled on East Fourth Street.

The victim was pronounced dead at Bellevue.

Cops shot a knife-wielding woman in the chest yesterday after she terrorized three other people — including a child — in a Prospect-Lefferts Garden apartment, officials said.

One of the residents called 911 after the 31-year-old woman began throwing objects and screaming in the sixth-floor apartment on Parkside Avenue near Flatbush Avenue at 6:40 p.m., sources said.

When officers arrived, the woman allegedly brandished a kitchen knife and cops pepper-sprayed her. When she failed to drop the knife, they fired at her, striking her once, authorities said. She was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

A burglar committed suicide yesterday moments after getting into a shootout with cops in Marine Park, authorities said.

Police responding to a break-in on Quentin Road near East 37th Street were shot at by Robert Rementeria, 47, at around 6:20 p.m.. officials said.

The officers returned fire, and a sergeant struck the suspect once in the leg.

Rementeria then staggered around the block, where police say he fatally shot himself in the head.

“He was looking back toward the corner where there was a cop,” said neighbor Dovid Rezinksy, who witnessed the suicide.

Police are searching for a gun-toting thug who shot a man to death in Bed-Stuy yesterday afternoon.

The 25-year-old victim was on Willoughby Street near Throop Street just before 1:45 p.m. when he was shot three times in the chest and once in the stomach. He was DOA at Kings County Hospital.

A 14-year-old burglar tried to flee by driving off in his victim’s car — only to crash it and be busted.

The pint-sized perp crawled through a window and into a home on Westminster Road near Cortelyou Road at 9:30 a.m. yesterday. Once inside, he swiped the keys to the homeowner’s 1999 Subaru Legacy and tried to make his escape, but he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the porch of the home, police said.

He then climbed from the wreck and ran off. Cops caught him nearby.

A robbery suspect was captured after he leaped out a second-floor hotel window, breaking his leg, cops said yesterday.

Eric Rhodes, 24, and two other men stormed into a second-floor room at the Super 8 Motel on Third Avenue near President Street at midnight Friday, police said. They allegedly bound the woman, 21, inside with duct tape and threatened her at gunpoint.

Cops responded to a 911 call reporting noise. As the men fled out the window, the woman managed to free herself to open the door and told cops the intruders had jumped out.

Cops found Rhodes on the ground below the window, unable to escape due to a broken leg. A loaded gun was found nearby.

Staten Island

A mugger stole a woman’s iPod and cash in Grymes Hill, authorities said yesterday.

Louis Figueroa, 30, allegedly grabbed the woman as she left her home on Ada Place near Duncan Road at around 10 a.m. Saturday. He allegedly ripped a bracelet off her wrist, pushed her against a parked car, rifled through her pockets and took the iPod and money.

The victim called 911. Police nabbed him nearby.
