The Maradonas
Breathless media reports always proclaim The Next Pele, or The Next Ronaldo. Well, we really do have The Next Maradona. No, for real. The 48-year-old Argentine legend’s progeny just got bigger, when his daughter Giannina gave birth to a boy yesterday.
Benjamin Aguero Maradona was born at Madrid’s Monteprincipe Hospital at 7pm. Maradona’s daughter had been dating, and impregnated by, Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero; and homegirl pushed out a healthy 8-pounder.
The 20-year-old also plays for the Argentina National Team, where he is coached by the elder Maradona, his baby momma’s daddy.
“The baby, like his mother Giannina Maradona, find themselves in perfect health,” Atletico Madrid reported on its website. The baby daddy wisely missed practice, his teammates went to the clinic to wish congratulations to the couple, and he’s expected to suit up and play Saturday.
Speaking of playing, I’ll bet Argentine fans are already stressing whether ‘Lil Maradona is gonna play for them or Spain. I mean, kid’s got some amazing fotbol genes. But he’ll never have to work a day in his life, and I’m betting he’s not going to be toiling for MLS developmental wages….
