Aug. 8 – Anitra Edmond and Elijah Waife Sr. may live in Brooklyn, but their wedding was more “Out of Africa.” After a ceremony at St. Paul Community Baptist Church, the duo enjoyed a Sankofa-themed reception. “Sankofa is an African symbol which signifies bringing the good from the past into the present,” says Edmond, a teacher in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Ghanaian chiefs were among the 190 guests who joined Waife, a technician at Bellevue Hospital, and his bride.
