J. HOLIDAY

AFTER “Bed” spent five weeks atop the R&B singles chart, J. Holiday saw his debut album, “Back of my ‘Lac” (as in “Cadillac”) debut at No. 4 on Billboard’s album chart. Unlike raunchy R. Kelly, his sweet tunes and Timberlake-like falsetto croon are squeaky clean Perhaps the hook is the innocence – ladies are disarmed as he gently leads them to “Bed.” * I really do own a ‘Lac. I haven’t driven it in a couple of years. It’s at home, and I go visit it. It’s a 1990 Cadillac El Dorado. When I got it, it only had 77,000 miles. It’s a coupe, so it’ll only fit about five. * Your mom would dig my music. I keep it simple, like back in the day. So many people get caught up in record sales, but I just wanted to make music that would touch people. * Fans ask me to keep makin’ baby-makin’ music. It’s like a Catch-22. God forbid there’s a superhuge baby boom nine months from the release of a song of mine. But, ultimately, it’s about the parents paying attention to what their kids are listening to. Don’t blame it on a song.
