70 degrees EQUALS ‘FALL’ SLUSH FUN

An intrepid ice skater tries to stay dry after slipping yesterday at Central Park’s Wollman Rink, which was covered by a layer of slush in the near-70-degree heat.

The unseasonably warm temps left T-shirt-wearing skaters slipping and sliding during the rink’s opening day of the season.

Wacky weather patterns are affecting other forms of fall fun, with so-called “leaf peepers” complaining that the area’s famed foliage is getting duller, with the dazzling colors falling victim to the Indian Summer.

Experts said the leaves’ lost luster is a product of warmer temperatures.

“The leaves fall off without ever becoming orange or yellow or red,” said Barry Rock, a forestry professor at the University of New Hampshire. “They just go from green to brown.”
