GIVE TO LAKEMAN FUND

The Backstretch Employee Service Team (B.E.S.T.) has established the Andrew Lakeman Assistance Fund to benefit the jockey who was seriously injured in a spill at Belmont Park on May 25. All proceeds of the fund will be used to offset Lakeman’s medical expenses and ongoing care.

Lakeman, 32, remains in guarded condition at North Shore Hospital on Long Island after suffering what was described as “severe spine trauma.” No further updates as to whether he is paralyzed have been made available.

Contributions to the fund, which are tax-deductible, can be mailed to B.E.S.T., Belmont Park, 2150 Hempstead Turnpike, Gate 6, Cottage 28B, Elmont N.Y. 11003. Or call 516-488-3434.
