BOY, 2, BADLY HURT IN CRASH

A 2-year-old boy was clinging to life last night after his mother drove her van through a red light in Brooklyn, police said.

The 20-year-old unlicensed driver, who was not identified, was behind the wheel of a Plymouth minivan when she ran the light at 47th Street and Ninth Avenue in Sunset Park at about 7 p.m., causing a collision that sent her son through the windshield, police said.

The boy suffered massive head trauma and was taken to Lutheran Hospital in critical condition.

Police said the van was sideswiped by an SUV that was heading west through a green light at 47th Street, and also hit by an Acura sedan that was traveling east on 47th.

The mother was charged with disobeying a traffic signal, failure to have her child in a proper seat and driving without a license.
