A drunk driver who smashed his car into an SUV filled with kids was sentenced yesterday in Manhattan Supreme Court to 16 years in prison.
Ramon Melendez’s drunken smash-up last Sept. 10 left one of the children, 10-year-old Ayana Rivera, comatose for life, said prosecutor John Wolfstaetter.
Ayana was riding with her two siblings, mom and stepfather when Melendez, 34, ran a light at Second Avenue and 112th Street and hit the SUV.
