A young mother abandoned her 4-year-old son on the Capital Beltway in Falls Church, Va. – and then ran him down and took off when he tried to climb back into her car.

Police began searching for 22-year-old Channoah Alece Green after the bruised youngster was spotted wandering along the busy interstate late at night.

They found his mother without a problem – she had been involved in a two-car accident 90 miles down the road.

Maytag has pulled the plug on a Great Tomato Toss planned for next month’s annual Tomato Festival in Fairfield, Calif.

Hundreds of locals were expected to participate in the pulpy pummeling while cameramen for Maytag filmed the wild splatter-spree to promote a new washing machine.

Maytag officials wouldn’t say why they were giving the Toss the heave-ho. Could it be they couldn’t figure out how to spin the event?

A work of art valued at $75,000 has mysteriously disappeared from an exhibit in Devon, England.

The unusual piece – a clear plastic bottle containing melted Antarctic ice – was entitled Weapon of Mass Destruction and intended to highlight the problem of global warming.

Officials believe a thirsty thief may have stolen it.

A fiery Serbian sawmill owner went berserk after tax officials insisted he owed them $2,794 in back taxes and froze his bank account.

He stormed the tax office, shot at the computers and doused the tax chief and his files with gas, starting a small fire, as he yelled “I was ripped off.”

We guess he was ripped off, but we know he was jailed.

A 32-year-old man was arrested in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil for stealing seven toothbrushes from a supermarket.

The clincher? He was toothless.
