MANHATTAN

* A 31-year-old man was shot dead after a gun-toting thug accosted him on a Harlem street, police said yesterday.

Charles Gray was crossing the street at around 9 p.m. Monday when the assailant shot him six times in the back at Frederick Douglass Boulevard near West 140th Street. Gray was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he died.

The suspect, whose motive was not known, fled.

* A woman in her 20s was found apparently murdered yesterday in a Midtown hotel, police said.

The unidentified woman was discovered in a duffel bag in the Sherman Hotel on West 47th Street at Eighth Avenue at around 12:30 p.m. Police are searching for a suspect and a motive.

* Police yesterday identified a Jersey City man who was shot and killed on a Washington Heights street.

Geremia Mello, 26, and Juan Gomez, 29, were hanging out on West 186th Street and Wadsworth Avenue at around 10 p.m. Monday, when an unidentified assailant approached, pulled .38-caliber gun and opened fire. Mello was hit in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gomez was shot in the stomach and taken to Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The shooter, whose motive was not known, fled.

BROOKLYN

* A 38-year-old man was struck and killed early yesterday by a hit-and-run driver in Canarsie, police said.

Jean Dennis-Bully was crossing the street at East 105th Street and Flatlands Avenue at around 3:30 a.m., when a 1990 white Lincoln Town car plowed into him and took off. The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he died.

* A 16-year-old youth was shot and critically wounded during an argument in a Brownsville building, cops said yesterday.

The teen was shot in the thigh in a first-floor apartment at around 5:30 p.m. Monday, when a 28-year-old man drew a gun and opened fire for unknown reasons. The gunman fled.

A witness said the youth staggered out of the apartment trailing blood and collapsed in the hallway. The witness dashed into his mother’s nearby apartment and called 911.

QUEENS

* An 18-year-old was fatally stabbed yesterday in a Far Rockaway apartment building, police said.

The body of the young man, whose name was not immediately released, was discovered with several stab wounds in the lobby of the building on Cornaga Avenue near Dickens Street at around 1 p.m.

* An unidentified man apparently shot himself to death early yesterday in a Jamaica parking lot, police said.

The man, in his 20s, was discovered with a head wound at 135th Street and 89th Avenue at around 2:30 a.m.

THE BRONX

* The Mott Haven boy who was shot and critically wounded during a basketball game Saturday had a heated argument with his attacker, who had fouled him while playing, authorities said yesterday.

Police sources said Rashaad Conyers, 13, was “hacked” by an unidentified male as they were playing basketball outside the Mill Brook housing project on Brook Avenue at around 6:30 p.m.

The two began cursing at each other as Jamell Wood appeared with a gun. Wood allegedly handed the pistol to the attacker, who shot Conyers in the back, shoulder and chest. A fourth bullet grazed his head. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition.

Another victim, Ronald Smith, 25, was shot in the torso and rushed to the same hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police arrested Wood on attempted-murder charges Monday night after one of the victims positively identified him.
