KATE MCENROE’S BALANCING ACT

While Kate McEnroe has worked at the AMC Networks for almost 15 years, her office didn’t really become “home-y” until three years ago.

That’s when McEnroe, the president whose responsibilities include American Movie Classics, WE: Women’s Entertainment and AMC’S American Pop, had her first child.

“I have two kids – and seven pictures of them on my table with another four on my desk,” she said of her office’s pervasive decoration.

Her children’s schedules contribute to making her days, “never typical.”

McEnroe usually works in her Jericho, N.Y. office from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., “doing what needs to get done.”

She also spends time on the road. “I have meetings in the city for AMC – we’re adding a bit more advertising, so I spend a lot of time on Madison Avenue.”

Once at home, she works for another two hours after her kids go to bed and speaks to her West Coast employees. All of this has turned her into a slave to her stuffed day planner.

“I’m one of those people who have never used a Palm Pilot for more than numbers and addresses,” she said. “I’m used to prioritizing my day in a day timer,” but, McEnroe said, “I’m starting on the Blackberry.”
