In by far his most impressive performance of the Shaw’s Pro Summer League, center Jason Collins scored 27 points and hauled down nine rebounds to lead the Nets to a 84-63 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at UMass-Boston yesterday.
Collins, one of three first round picks for the Nets shot 7-of-10 from the field, even sinking a three-point shot.
Nets coach Byron Scott has called Collins a “brainy player,” but the 7-footer out of Stanford had not shown much on the court until yesterday.
Richard Jefferson, also a first rounder, registered 16 points. Brandon Armstrong, the Nets’ other first-round choice, sat out his second straight game with a sprained ankle. He also will miss today’s finale.
Kerry Kittles returned to action after sitting out Friday’s victory over the Wizards, but added just five points.
