COLLINS LIVES UP TO REP IN NET WIN

In by far his most impressive performance of the Shaw’s Pro Summer League, center Jason Collins scored 27 points and hauled down nine rebounds to lead the Nets to a 84-63 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at UMass-Boston yesterday.

Collins, one of three first round picks for the Nets shot 7-of-10 from the field, even sinking a three-point shot.

Nets coach Byron Scott has called Collins a “brainy player,” but the 7-footer out of Stanford had not shown much on the court until yesterday.

Richard Jefferson, also a first rounder, registered 16 points. Brandon Armstrong, the Nets’ other first-round choice, sat out his second straight game with a sprained ankle. He also will miss today’s finale.

Kerry Kittles returned to action after sitting out Friday’s victory over the Wizards, but added just five points.

The Knicks fell to the Pacers last night, 58-55.

Second-round picks Eric Chenowith (three points) and Michael Wright combined for just eight points. Wayne Turner led the club with 14 points.
