The Three Tenors could become the new Gang of Four, if Luciano Pavarotti can convince the president of China to perform with the vaunted trio.
The tubby tenor got the idea during a visit to China last weekend. During their visit, Pavarotti invited Jiang Zemin to dine with the famed trio – which includes Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo.
Pavarotti said the tenors and Jiang all began to sing together over lunch, and Jiang has a beautiful voice.
Later, the president launched into a stirring duet with Pavarotti of “O Sole Mio.”
