A Bronx youth jumped 23 stories to his death yesterday after a fight with his mom, cops said.
During the dispute, Ernesto Parker, 16, picked up a knife and tried to stab his mother, police said.
But the woman fended off the teen and he ran to the balcony of the family apartment at 780 Concourse Village West in the South Bronx and jumped, according to police. The woman was not injured.
“My son jumped off the balcony,” neighbors heard the mother say. Police did not identify Parker’s mom or say what the fight was about.
Parker was a quiet youth with an easy smile. But teachers and neighbors said he kept to himself and seemed to have few friends.
“I have fond memories of him as a student,” said Anna Scott, who taught Parker in special-ed classes and once lived in his apartment complex.
“He seemed to want to please people that he liked,” Scott said. “He always had a friendly smile.”
