Some of the most common food-and nutrition-related questions that arise from well-intentioned and... more Some of the most common food-and nutrition-related questions that arise from well-intentioned and honestly curious eaters (i.e., human beings) take the form of: Regarding (nutrient/food/food pattern) X, should I consume it (because it is good) or avoid it (because it is bad)? The general nature of the question template seems practical with the goal being a simple ‘‘yes or no’’ answer. However, it is quite common to find that these types of questions can be answered with a ‘‘Yes and No’’ if one takes the time to seek multiple opinions or searches the scientific literature for multiple published studies on the topic. Have you done that? Are you frustrated? Don’t be. This isn’t a problem with inconsistencies in the scientific method; it is a problem with the original questions. The questions lack critical context. Providing the context can often help to avoid the appearance of confusion and inconsistency and shine a light on what is quite often general agreement in nutrition research. We would like to propose that 3 qualifiers be added consistently to these general and practical questions about choosing what to include or avoid in our daily foods and beverages: Instead of what? In what context? For what? Brief examples of each of these should help to illustrate their critical importance. These 3 qualifiers may be applied to the different types of studies evaluating the impact of food and nutrients on human—and planetary—health, including for instance: observational studies, randomized controlled trials, case control studies, and metabolic studies. Each of these study types has clear benefits and drawbacks and collectively help to inform our understanding. No one study or study type alone will ever be able to answer all our questions.

This paper deals with the improvement of the thermal efficiency of LPG gas stoves by varying the loading height. Loading height is defined as the distance between the burner top and the bottom surface of the vessel when the vessel is kept on the stove. The experiment was performed as prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS). It was found that with an increase in the loading height there was an increase in thermal efficiency up to the optimum loading height of 17.5 mm at which maximum thermal efficiency was achieved. Further increase in the loading height resulted in a decrease in the thermal efficiency. A mathematical analysis was carried, and a correlation is developed which is compared with the experimental results. Interaction between the plants of the same species is known as intraspecific competition and between different species is called as interspecific competition. In the present pilot study, we have evaluated the interspecific competition of Zea mays and Sorghum bicolor, grown together in different density dependent growth modeling design. In series of different experimental design, we evaluated the intensity of interspecific competition between these two crops. To understand the intensity of competition, we evaluated the percent seed germination, shoot and root length, biomass (wet and dry), protein, chlorophyll content, proline and peroxidase activity of the two crops. The general composition of the complexes is [M (L)2 nH2O], where M= Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and n=2. The ligand acts as a bidentate ligand. A simple, fast, specific, stability-indicating, and precise reversed-phase liquid chromatographic... more A simple, fast, specific, stability-indicating, and precise reversed-phase liquid chromatographic method was developed for the determination of Cefdinir in its different dosage forms, i.e., capsules and suspensions. The method was developed and optimized by analyzing the placebo preparation, formulations, and degraded samples of the drug substance according to the International Conference on Harmonization. The proposed method can successfully separate the drug from degradation products formed under stress conditions along with pharmaceutical ingredients such as preservatives. The developed method was used successfully to determine Cefdinir in capsules and Insta-use suspensions. The developed method was found to be linear for a concentration range of 6–14 μg/mL. Average recoveries obtained with the method were 99.3 ± 0.4 and 99.6 ± 0.4% for Insta-use suspensions and capsules, respectively. The method was shown to be specific, precise, and robust.

The method was developed and optimized by analyzing the forcefully degraded samples. Degradation of the drug was done at various pH values. Moreover, the drug was degraded under oxidative, photolytic, and thermal stress conditions. Mass balance between assay values of degraded samples and generated impurities was found to be satisfactory. The proposed method was able to resolve all of the possible degradation products formed during the stress study. The developed method was successfully applied for an accelerated stability study of the tablet formulation. The major impurities generated during the accelerated stability study of the tablet formulation were matches with those of the forced degradation study. An accurate and reproducible liquid chromatographic assay method was developed and validated for ... more An accurate and reproducible liquid chromatographic assay method was developed and validated for the determination of nebivolol and valsartan in a capsule formulation. Bufferacetonitrile (55 + 45, v/v) was used for reversed-phase liquid chromatography to determine the contents of nebivolol and valsartan in the combination-capsule dosage form. The method was validated by determining parameters such as specificity, linearity, limits of detection and quantitation, precision, accuracy, and robustness. The method was found to be specific against placebo interference. Linearity was evaluated over the concentration ranges of 28 g/mL for nebivolol and 32128 g/mL for valsartan (the correlation coefficient was 0.9999 for both nebivolol and valsartan). Both the intraday and interday precision values of the system and the method were determined.
