The Joy of Proving Ourselves Wrong
Proving ourselves wrong is more acceptable to most of us than being proved wrong by others.
Self-examination is voluntary and less intimidating; we are the judge and jury in the trial of self-enquiry.
It begins with the question, “What if I’m wrong about…?”
Proving ourselves wrong reveals our hidden strengths and abilities. It tests our opinions, judgments, and fears.
We find many of our fears are unfounded, and a lot of our opinions are wrong.
We realise people we disliked are not that bad, and people we trusted are untrustworthy.
We discover parts of ourselves we never knew existed.
We understand we’re capable of both sacrifice and service.
Proving ourselves wrong also sheds light on our flaws and vices.
Self-interrogation is enjoyable, enlightening, and therapeutic.
It transforms us by showing who we truly are.
