Deploy and Manage MinIO at Scale on Kubernetes

Build and manage an enterprise grade Kubernetes based object store leveraging the MinIO Operator.

MinIO Enterprise Administration II: Containers and Kubernetes (MN216)

Summary

Experienced MinIO administrators can learn to build and deploy high performance applications on Kubernetes using the MinIO Operator.

Course Description

This is the second course in the MinIO Administration track, following MinIO Enterprise Administration I: Management, Replication and Security Essentials (MN116) and is intended for experienced MinIO administrators. Kubernetes platform administrators, engineers, and cloud architects already experienced with MinIO will be able to use the MinIO Operator along with Kubectl, Helm, Krew, and other Kubernetes tools to deploy and manage a multi-tenant, multi-node MinIO object store cluster.

Job Roles

Experienced Kubernetes operators, administrators, engineers, and cloud architects.

Pre-requisites

  • Completion of MinIO for Administrators (MN116) or equivalent MinIO production experience
  • Basic knowledge of AWS S3 and the S3 API
  • Knowledge of the Linux environment including using the command line and shell scripting
  • Hands on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes, Kubectl, Helm and Ingress
  • Knowledge of traditional NAS/SAN file based storage systems, and HDFS helpful but not required

Course Length

3 Days

Three Day Course Outline

  • Module 1: Kubernetes Basics for MinIO
  • Module 2: Single Tenant Dev Environment On Kubernetes
  • Module 3: Deploying and Managing MinIO Operator and Tenants Using Helm
  • Module 4: Deploying and Managing MinIO Operator and Tenant Using Kubectl/Krew
  • Module 5: MinIO Operator and TLS

Lab Environment

Students will engage in cloud-based hands-on labs throughout the course using MinIO’s chosen flavor of Kubernetes.

Business Outcomes

Enterprises deploying MinIO on Kubernetes will benefit by having a massively extensible platform for enterprise MinIO deployments that can be replicated across public and private cloud and bare metal environments. MinIO and Kubernetes deliver an S3 API based infrastructure, control over the software stack and the ability to avoid vendor lock-in.

Learner Outcomes

Students completing this course will possess the skills to deploy MinIO object storage resources on Kubernetes to improve system performance, scalability and portability across deployment architectures

Inter- and Post-Training Support

Students will use MinIO SUBNET for posting questions, comments, or follow-ups during and after the training. MinIO engineers can engage directly with students to provide additional information or resolution to ongoing queries. SUBNET is a key part of customer success both during and after training.

Delivery

  • Live, virtual training
  • Maximum of 15 students
  • Delivered by a MinIO accredited instructor
  • Scheduling typically requires 4-6 weeks lead time
  • PDF course materials for each student
  • Delivered in 3 hour modules, 1 or 2 per day per customer choice
  • Ability to escalate questions to MinIO technical leadership

Tailoring and Customization

  • Clients are welcome to pare down, or tailor, the course to meet their needs
  • Creation of custom content not in the outline provided is available on a fee-basis
