I’ve been absent for a crazy long stretch this time, though Medium, of course, kept right on running without me. (How could y’all!? Humph!)

There is so much going on in my life, so much on my plate, that I had to take something off. I had to unload at least a little bit of the weight. I could feel myself at the cusp of a complete break.

So…I scheduled a break from the one thing that’s optional instead. I can’t very well not meet work deadlines for my freelance clients or fail to fulfill my scheduled hours for the company I work for or not put the work in to get the house ready to sell or not feed the kid or not take my parents to their appointments or not help my hubby prepare for his next out-of-town gig … you get the point.

When one of my very favorite people on this platform noticed my absence and reached out to me to ask if I was okay, it made me realize that now, I’ve been missing the platform more than I was relaxing in the time I was saving myself. Being able to write here and interact with you guys is actually really important to me.

I stress myself out over it sometimes because I put pressure on myself. I always want to make sure I don’t miss any story or fail to comment on any person’s article. I get in my own head and make…
