When Can I Get More Than Scraps?

I’ve been on the earth for a total of 4,156 days. In case you don’t like random facts as much as I do, for normal people, you’d say eleven years.

Eleven years isn’t much time to some folks, I suppose, but it’s seemed like an eternity to me. An eternity of waiting for something that will never be.

I just want to live a normal life. Then again, what is normal, anyway?

Some days I feel like I’m invisible. And maybe I am. Would I really even know?

I was born into a family that doesn’t have much time for anything but survival, but I don’t think my brain will ever get the message that the entirety of our days is tied up in that.

Well, that and serving the Lord.

Momma and Daddy say there isn’t anything else that matters quite as much as that. Personally, I haven’t been fully converted to that way of thinking one hundred percent just yet. Especially since their words don’t quite match up with their way of living out life, if ya know what I mean.

The way I see it, making sure we don’t starve to death, or making sure that Daddy doesn’t hit me with any of the stuff he’s throwing around the house during one of his “spells,” or trying to cover for my older sisters when they sneak out, so Daddy…
