When gold it’s not enough

“Are you angry at me?” Asked the blue-eye Indian, his head down.

His voice lacked a pretension. He bent forward, and guilt radiated from his body.

“I did not want to be mean to you. It is just my nature. I do not trust people.” He continued and started looking at Kalina with the guilt of a child who had just spilled a glass of cereal bowl with milk on the floor.

“I am not angry with you!” Said Kalina, and her bright smile warmed the gloomy day.”

“I can’t be angry with you for what you are, because if you were anything else you wouldn’t be my friend.” When she spoke, it was the voice of a child but the confidence of an adult.

I’ll give you my thoughts about the treasures, Indian. Treasures are treasures because they are meant to be found. We search for them for a very long time and when we find them we enjoy them. That’s how they become alive. You are a treasure and I am a treasure. When someone finds you, let him enjoy you, otherwise you become a mere pot of gold, and there is nothing treasured in that.”

From the book “The Secrets of Kalina”
