A Story of Personal Growth and Healing

Natasha Lunn’s book, Conversations on Love, spoke to me at the start of a major transition in my life. Leading up to this moment, I had gone from being in what I thought was my dream life to living an ongoing cycle of mental anguish. I was desperately trying to maintain a relationship that was no longer salvageable, which took a toll on my confidence and overall wellbeing. After weeks of painful contemplation, I decided to make the decision to redirect and start over. It was then that came across this fitting title.

Much of the book resonated with me, but especially reading the words, “In my earliest efforts at love, imagination was a thief that stole truth and perspective,” was when I felt the weight of my own circumstances. I became aware of how much I needed outside perspective to take an honest account of my life, or at least become familiar with language that could help me better navigate what I was going through. Reading this book did just that and empowered me to acknowledge more; the nuances, developing an understanding, and solidifying my own perception. Feeling inspired by the book, I wanted to document parts of my healing process — moments that not only aided me in reclaiming my identity but also offered insights into the broader concept of self-discovery and mental health.
