The Depths of Grief

I read a piece today in which a mother shared her journey with ambiguous grief. I’d never heard the term before but she described it as the grief of loss but not of death. It resonated with me deeply.

I think so many of us experience a multitude of grief at different times and places in our lives as people, places, ideas, identities and situations come and go. But do we recognise those moments for what they are? And in the times when we don’t, just how much harder are we making the process for ourselves?

Grief can feel like many things… loud and roaring or silent and numb. It can feel like an all-encompassing fog, altering our perception of the world and ourselves. It…
