We sang late the night,
guitars, drums and dancing,
harmonizing, improvising
songs we often barely knew.

My girlfriends and I performed,
like we do every Friday night,
the crowd mostly appreciative
but dwindling in the lateness,
so late, they sought only sleep.

After, we left to the rainy street.
Tonight was a dedication to heart,
for us, and to mind and aspiration….
