In Pragmatic Wisdom, we explore sources of enduring wisdom. Our goal is to tease out relevant lessons for our complicated modern times. One key vehicle for this exploration is Seneca, specifically his Moral Letters to Lucilius. Each week, we publish a modern version of one of Seneca's 124 letters on what it means to live a good life. In between, contributors shed light on the challenges of modern life from the perspectives of Buddhism, the pragmatism of Machiavelli, and good old common sense.
