Hey, I commented a while back asking about a Linux version. Any news on that front?
Tutorial?
Hi friend, is there any news on the new update where you can insert images first and bones after?
I am also unable to load anything into the trial version unless I am missing something. I tried dragging and dropping sprites at various locations in the UI, but this did not work. All of the top menus are disabled aside from the “Help” menu, so that was not very helpful (terrible joke, I know).
I am able to add bones as children of other bones. I can also set each bone to be an IK bone. However, I see no evidence that the IK is working. If I grab the end of the bottommost child bone and move it, I would expect it to move all of the parent bones above it that have been flagged as IK bones. This is not happening and only the bottom bone is moving.
I am very interested in this software and more than willing to purchase it, but I would at least like to be able to import images, skin them and animate them with the bones, and see the IK working. I am not concerned about saving or even loading a project with the demo, but I would prefer the demo allow me the above functionality prior to purchasing.
Looks very cool though and I am definitely following. Good luck with this!
Hey! Sorry for getting back to you so late but to import images right click the asset browser and a menu button that says "import" will appear. I now see that this could be a little confusing and will push out a patch to make it more obvious.

Please get back to me and let me know if this works for you. Also, join the discord! I usually check there often.
Hi! This is a lot easier to use than other 2d rigging software I used, but there I three things I wanted to say since I just found this.... will there be deformations available in the future? While trying the trial I'm having an issue with the ik. I followed the image on Github in the bones section on how to do it, but when I try to move the end part around it doesn't pull everything else. I can only use ik on the first made or second made bone. Also, I can't really give an opinion on the output product whether it will turn out the way I want it or not, I can only test the program operations, so if possible, can you at least add a piece of your own artwork for users to experiment with in the program? I know it will need some adjustments, but I do like it so far and hope to see continued support for this.
Glad that you are enjoying Tangent! Deformations will be available in a future update. IK bones can only affect other IK bones. So, if you have a chain of IK bones and you move the last child in the chain it will affect all other bones further up the chain but not effect the bone you are moving. What I do is create an additional bone and use that as a way to adjust movement. You should be able to add your own images in the trial version, I will double check this but I can also add the purple character's file included in the application.
For more information about mesh deformation I just published a devlog here.
Thank you~! Yes, for some reason I can't use my own art, all options except help are not functional. I'll keep checking back for all the updates then. ^^
Very little amazing software for rigging
Thanks! 😁
oh yes! awesome : )
This looks cool! Any chance of a Linux version?
Actually yes! This version was build in .net framework and we've been slowly porting it over to .net core which should allow us target linux.
Frickin' sweet. I look forward to it.
Looks cool! Just the kind of animation software I've been on the lookout for.
I will most probably buy it once I get back into asset animations.
Glad that you like it!
