I was having a look at the most common values for this property:

English label

The current English label is format of creative work ; however I think that leads to confusion with distribution format (P437) − would it be fine to change it to form of creative work?

Constraint

I have added a value-type constraint (Q21510865) based on my reading of the rest of the property, ie accepting form of art (Q1437361) and album type (Q81947509). This will probably create lots of violations, but hey, we have to start somewhere :) Jean-Fred (talk) 15:15, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Non-fiction texts

What value of this property could be used for works like Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind (Q12411055) or A People's History of the American Revolution (Q59318277), if they are not formal academic works like textbooks or treatises, but longer than an essay? The could be potentially used as textbooks, I suppose, but I'm not sure I'd put them in that category. Ghouston (talk) 01:19, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Why does this property exist? Why not use P31 instead?

If it’s particularly important to denote the type of class this is an instance of, why not relate all valid targets of this property via P279 to something like "Form of creative work"? Theanswertolifetheuniverseandeverything (talk) 21:55, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
