The fact that these activities gained an institutional dimension, especially during the period of Caliph al-Maʾmūn (d. 218/833), was one of the most critical factors that enabled the development of the Arabic language at that time. Similarly, the translation activities initiated in the military and technical fields during the reign of Muḥammad ʿAlī Pas̲ h̲ a (d. 1849) at the beginning of the 19th century and in the course of time emerged in almost every field, such as history, geography, and philosophy. After the 1870s, there was a tremendous increase in the translation of literary works. These translation activities, which enabled the Arab world to communicate with the modern Western civilization in a cultural and intellectual context, not only introduced Egyptian readers to European writing techniques, new writing styles, and modes, but have also been one of the most critical factors that played an active role in the revival of Arabic literature, which entered the period of decline after reaching its golden age in the ʿAbbāsid period. Along with this influence, poetry and prose, which are means of expressing emotions, were removed from their traditional patterns and transformed into modern forms that people in that era could convey their emotions and new genres such as drama, novels, and articles emerged. This study discussed the contribution of the translation activities emerged in Egypt to development of Arabic literature.

Foreigners, especially Iranians who contributed to the establishment of the ʿAbbāsid state, had a great impact on daily life and this influence showed itself in matters such as meals, drinks, household goods, and games such as chess, backgammon and polo became widespread. Some poets have conceived these events occurring around them with different imagination elements and simulacrums and have successfully used these imaginations elements in their poems. Among the pioneers of these poets is Kushājim (d. 358/969[?]), who is considered one of the most famous writers of the ʿAbbāsid period. Kushājim drew attention with his classical poetry subjects such as praise, satire and elegy, as well as his pictorial poems. He skillfully reflected many customs, lifestyles and plays of the ʿAbbāsid society in his poems. He was called as “rayḥānatu’l-adab” in his time because of the quality of his poems in this field. In this study, after giving brief information about Kushājim’s life and literary personality, examples of his poems, which are thought to contain many images of daily life, are tried to be presented. Examples of poetry; It has been examined under a total of seven titles: Food, Professions, Entertainment Life, Science Assemblies, Feast Celebrations, Gifting and Grief.

Imruʾ al-Qays (d. 540 [?]), one of the poets of the Jāhiliyya period, expressed his longing for the good old days and his beloved through the ruins of the place left by the departed lover in the prologue of the traditional ode called nesīb, and this method inspired the longing poems of many poets who came after him. In the subsequent centuries, the theme of longing continued to captivate poets, especially those who joined expeditions alongside the Islamic army. These poets, engaged in warfare, deeply felt the fear of not being able to reunite with their homeland, spouses, friends, and children and expressed their yearnings through their poetry. Undoubtedly, Andalusia was one of the places where poems of longing increased the most. The first examples of longing poems in Andalusia emerged during the Andalusian Umayyad period (756-1031). The first person to write a poem about longing in this period was ʿAbd alRaḥmān al-Dākhil (d. 172/788), the founder of the Umayyad State of Andalusia. These themes, which initially emerged as a longing for the East, gradually acquired a distinctive identity with the adoption of Andalusian lands as a homeland. During this period, the Andalusians' long-term travels to the East for reasons such as trade, pursuit of knowledge, or pilgrimage have been the most significant factors in the emergence of longing poetry unique to Andalusia. The turning point of the Andalusian longing poems is the period of Mulūk alṭawā'if, which coincides with the 5th/11th century (1031-1090). From the end of the alMuwaḥḥid period (1130-1269), the loss of most of the lands, except for a limited area in the south, led some Andalusians to migrate to Maghrib and the East, separating them from their families and loved ones. All these factors led poets from the beginning of the era of the Mulūk al-ṭawā'if to turn intensively to poems on the theme of longing. As a result of this intense interest, which continued to increase from the end of the al-Muwaḥḥid period onwards, poems of longing diversified in terms of subject matter and developed greatly in terms of quantity and quality, becoming one of the three or four themes in which Andalusians surpassed Eastern poets. The feelings of longing, yearning, and separation echoing in their poetry have an important place in Andalusia's historical heritage. The works of these poets reflect not only the suffering of their times, but also the inherent human feelings of homesickness and longing. In this study, after giving a brief information about the development process of Andalusian longing poems, examples of Andalusian poets' poems that are thought to contain many real emotions such as pain, suffering and longing about their real lives are presented. It is aimed to make sense of these examples within the political, social and cultural framework of the period. The poetry samples are analyzed under five headings: homesickness, family longing, longing for friends, longing for lover and complaint of expatriation.

The first eulogies (Qaṣāīd) about the Prophet Muḥammad (pbuh) appeared when he was still alive. Ḥ... more The first eulogies (Qaṣāīd) about the Prophet Muḥammad (pbuh) appeared when he was still alive. Ḥassān ibn Thābit (d. 60/680 [?]), ʿAbd Allāh b. Rawāḥa (d. 8/629) and Kaʿb b. Mālik (d. 50/670), important Muslim poets of the period, praised the Prophet and inspired future generations of poets. Depending on the developments in the following centuries, there had been a great increase in the number of poems sung to express enthusiastic feelings towards the Prophet and to defend him and his Prophethood. Andalusia is one of the places where this genre increased the most. The first examples of the praise of the Prophet appeared in Andalusia during the Mulūk al-Ṭawāʾif period (1031-1090). The praises of the Prophet, which were processed in the poems of asceticism, dirge and elegy until the end of the 5th/11th century, became an independent genre called al-Madāʾiḥ al-Nabawiyyah/Nabawiyyāt thanks to the ever-increasing Ṣūfī thoughts penetrating literary circles. The turning point of the praise of the Prophet in Andalusia, as in the East, is the period of the The Almohads (1147-1238), which coincides with the 7th/13th century. The mawlid celebrations, which were first initiated by the Fāṭimids in the 4th/10th century to give legitimacy to their rule, and held every year in North Africa on the twelfth of the month of Rabi'ulawwal, moved to Andalusia at the end of the The Almohad period and gradually became one of the largest official and religious holidays in Andalusia. Giving awards to high-quality poems read on the mawlid festival and celebrations made all over Andalusia has greatly contributed to the literary richness in this field. In praise of the Prophet, talented poets such as Abū Zayd al-Fāzāzī (d. 627/ 1230), Ibn al-Jannān al-Anṣārī (d. 650/1252), Ibn Jābir (d. 780/1378) and Ibn Zumruk (d. 797/1395) emerged. Abū Zayd al-Fāzāzī, one of the most distinguished Prophetic ode poets of the Almohad period is said to have first pioneered the spread of Prophetic praises in Andalusia before the Iraqi poet Yaḥyā al-Ṣarṣarī (d. 656/1258) and the Egyptian poet Būṣīrī (d. 695/1296). He has a dīvān called al-Wasā’il al-mutaqabbalah, which he wrote in alphabetical order and dedicated to the praise of the Prophet. The fame of the odes he uttered about the Prophet spread as far as North Africa, and it has become a tradition to read his odes on special days. Because of the abundance and quality of Prophetic odes, Ibn al-Jannān, who witnessed the glorious days and the collapse of the The Almohad state, also commemorated the poet Ḥassān ibn Thābit, The Prophet’s Odic Poet. Ibn Jābir al-Andalusī, on the other hand, wrote the second ode in this field after Ṣafī al-Dīn al-Ḥilli (d. 749/1348), the inventor of the axiomatic odes, and became the pioneer of axiomatic odes in Andalusia. The effect of political instability on Prophetic odes in Andalusia, which entered its collapse with the end of the Almohad state, is obvious. According to many poets, salvation from this plight of Muslims in Andalusia is possible by once again adhering to the Sunnah of the Prophet. Probably as a reflection of this idea, many poets from 7th/13th centuries onwards devoted their odes to narrating the Prophet and his Sunnah. Poets who describe the Prophet elaborately in their poems hope to be saved from the troubles they have fallen into and to reach the highest rank in heaven. Poets who touched upon the physical characteristics of the Prophet often likened his smiling face to a bright sun and a full moon. In terms of oratory, they stated that he had a fluent language and never uttered bad words. Andalusian poets, who praised the Prophet with moral virtues such as tolerance, justice and courage, stated that there was nobody more merciful and generous than him due to the abundance of his blessings resembling torrential rain. Andalusian Prophetic ode poets adhered to the traditional forms of Arabic poetry in terms of the structure of eulogy. In the introductory parts of odes, they generally express longing for the Prophet and the holy places. The main theme is mostly the Prophet and his outstanding virtues, and they usually end their eulogies with salutation to the Prophet. Save a few Sufi poets, it can be said that they used simple and understandable language in their poems. The sources of inspiration for their poems are the Qur'an and hadiths. Andalusian poets used non-material axiomatic arts in their poems without disturbing the structure of eulogy. In addition to the art of pun, they provided musicality in the poem with the ‘tent-frame’ meter and rhyme scheme, sometimes supporting it through repetition. It is possible to see all kinds of repetitions in, Ibn al-Jannān's odes. In this study, the place of the Prophet in Andalusia and odes, which are reflections of the love for him, will be examined. In addition, the concept of the Prophet in Andalusia will be explained within the political, social and cultural framework of the period.

The most important feature of this book is that it not only gives examples of collocations in advanced reading texts but also moves these collocations to end-of-text studies and aims to provide students with practical skills through various activities. Collocations have an important effect on the active use of languages and translation; therefore, it is very important to teach them gradually through texts that contain plenty of collocation examples and to make them grasped using standard and various collocation activities included in the end of texts in order to move the taught collocations to the level of the linguistic skill level. This study which used the scanning research method is limited to only the fourth book of the al-’Arabiyya li’l-Hayât series. Theoretical information was obtained by reviewing the relevant literature. Some collocational expressions and collocation activities in the book of al-Arabiyya li’l-Hayât which is used as a textbook in some universities in Arab countries and in Turkey were determined and examined. The method followed by the book was shown using the selected examples and exercises, and some suggestions were made to include the subject of collocation in the Arabic course curriculum or textbooks which will be prepared in the future.

Hz. Peygamber’in vefatından sonra, sahabe arasında Müslümanların başına kimin geçeceği konusunda ... more Hz. Peygamber’in vefatından sonra, sahabe arasında Müslümanların başına kimin geçeceği konusunda yoğun tartışmalar yaşanmıştır. Ashabtan bir grup, hilafetin Hz. Ali (öl. 40/661) ve onun soyundan gelenlerin hakkı olduğunu savunmuştur. Hz. 350/962 yılında Muiz’in huzuruna çıkan İbn Hânî, kısa sürede Ebü’l-Kâsım el-Fezârî el-Kayrevânî ve Ali b. Muhammed el-İyâdî et-Tûnisî gibi saray şairlerini geçerek Mağrib’in Mütenebbisi diye isimlendirilmiştir.

Everyone began to pursue their desires and lusts, the (tawheed) monotheism weakened and distorted opinions spread everywhere. However, a group called Hanifs and composed of many intellectuals rejected all these disgrace. Some of the Hanifs were wearing sacklots and devoting themselves to asceticism and worship. By means of poetry and sermons, which were effective communication tools of the time, they tried to keep people away from idols and to guide them by revealing the false views of idols. On the way of community improvement; they tried to change Arabs’ mind in other words to enlighten the way to Islam with emphasis of such issues as tawheed, heaven, hell, takwa (piousness), tawakkul (reliance), and patience. On the other hand, Hanif Zahids made important contributions to the Arabic language by bringing Arabic some words and compounds that the Arabs have never known before. In this study, it was tried to determine the existence of asceticism literature and to disclose its subjects in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance (Jahiliyya). Then the reflections of these subjects on social and cultural life were handled by analysing the subjects from different perspectives. Keywords: Asceticism, Takwa, Hanif, Jahiliyya, Tawhed, Idolater.

Peygamber’in sözlerinde kullanılmıştır.

1 Yrd. Doç. Dr., Câmi'atu Diyale, Külliyeti't-Terbiye, Irak. 2 Orjinal makalede özet kısmı bulunmayıp çeviri makaleye anahtar kelimelerle birlikte tarafımızdan eklenmiştir. Ayrıca cümlelerin akıcılığını sağlamak için bazı yerlere orijinal makalede olmayan kelimeler eklenmiş/çıkarılmış, birkaç yere ise, konu akışını sağlamak adına ana fikri destekleyecek şekilde birkaç cümle ilave edilmiştir.

Since the pre-Islamic period took a long period and any prophet was not sent during this period, ... more Since the pre-Islamic period took a long period and any prophet was not sent during this period, ignorance increased, and the information about the religion and guidance brought by the Shariah was reduced. Keywords: Asceticism, Takwa, Hanif, Jahiliyya, Tawhed, Idolater.

book entitled al-‘Arabiyya Li’l-Hayât for the teaching of common collocation words by teachers
and with the aim of minimizing students’ misuses.
The most important feature of this book is that it
not only gives examples of collocations in advanced reading texts but also moves these collocations
to end-of-text studies and aims to provide students
with practical skills through various activities.
Collocations have an important effect on the active use of languages and translation; therefore, it
is very important to teach them gradually through
texts that contain plenty of collocation examples
and to make them grasped using standard and various collocation activities included in the end of
texts in order to move the taught collocations to the
level of the linguistic skill level. This study which
used the scanning research method is limited to
only the fourth book of the al-’Arabiyya li’l-Hayât
series. Theoretical information was obtained by
reviewing the relevant literature. Some collocational expressions and collocation activities in the
book of al-Arabiyya li’l-Hayât which is used as
a textbook in some universities in Arab countries
and in Turkey were determined and examined. The
method followed by the book was shown using the
selected examples and exercises, and some suggestions were made to include the subject of collocation in the Arabic course curriculum or textbooks which will be prepared in the future.
