How will you contribute to our magical experience? 

This team is responsible for the management of VOD content management tools across the Disney+ and Hulu spaces. This means monitoring of incoming content from over 400 partners, as well as tools and workflows for quality control and review of the entire content library.  

The Lead Software Engineering will be responsible for: 

  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for the management of all VOD content across the Disney family of streaming platforms 

  • Design and build robust software applications, utilizing software engineering and machine learning expertise to deliver high performance solutions.  

  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for performing analysis and building applications ensuring a successful operator experience for delivering content to end users.  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering, to identify opportunities, business impact and technical requirements.  

  • Act in people supervisory capacity and serve as a technical leader, setting best practices and leading architectural discussions within the team.  

  • Mentor, empower, and provide career growth opportunities for team members.  

  • Prioritize tasks within a project to deliver high value initiatives, while anticipating and mitigating potential risk wherever possible.  

  • Craft web applications specific to the managing of live and linear scheduling for the DTC services  

  • Manage AWS infrastructure supporting a microservice ecosystem 

  • Work on improving system scale and throughput for handling high concurrency  

  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration and innovation 

  • Build quality products 

  • Provide on-call rotational support as needed 

What we need from you to be part of this story: 

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 

  • 7+ years of experience developing software products. 

  • Proficiency in Java or another object-oriented programming language. 

  • Advanced level of English. 

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS), source control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and build/deployment tools like Jenkins and Docker (is a plus) 

  • Knowledge of web accessibility, modern web standards, async programming (e.g., promises, async/await), and messaging technologies like Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS (is a plus)
