Liked the concept where you would have to ration the refill pickups and leave some for backtracking because of the 1000 hard limit. Didn't play all the levels, but could have been used in interesting ways by "walling off" 1 gap corridors for later use.
Could also feature different kinds of refill pickups, that only work while being above/below a threshhold for example.
As others have said, the cost should be tied to action movement, not inputs, but I love the idea. The first couple of levels just feel like a maze with a gimmick, but later on it's fun trying to plan out a route to best expend your movement.
It made me think, just challenging enough !
The only issue i see is the player's collision, i think it's a bit too large for a game where you have to avoid colliding walls. And as the player doesn't spawn in the center of a tile, you always have to move a little, because if you just start walking in a straight line, you always hurt a wall
Simple, yet fun. I agree with comments about hitting wall and losing points.
I really like your take on this puzzle game. Required a bit of strategic planning instead of random moving around to find the goal. The aesthetic and the music are really fitting for the game. The only gripe i have for the game was hitting the wall still cost you your movement :( Other than that everything is solid. Great job on the game!

Interesting idea. I never felt "out of control" since I was always either in the "moving" state or "game over" state. It would also be nice if the timer didn't go down if you were walking into a wall. Sometimes I wasn't positioned correctly against wall colliders and would lose too many points just trying to reposition myself to go down a hallway. Fun game though! Very nice aesthetic and it's fun going through the mazes. Nice work!
The control mechanic feels more like stamina rather than control. Otherwise I love the game and its execution.
I enjoyed the part about strategizing and planning your life dots. Maybe more of that and less running into the walls, hahah. I feel like running into the wall should be penalized, but not as much as plain moving. The ambient music and sound effects are good
This is really nice and cool interpretation of the theme. The level designs were rather nice as well. I loved the art. Simple but very effective. The sound effects and music were damn nice as well. The only issue I really had was the same as everyone else with the timer draining while getting stuck at some point. None the less, this is a good game. Well done :)
One of the better interpretations of the theme, I liked the moving limitation (and liked the cap even more - how you need to strategize your moves and maybe not collect everything at once). Two points I personally would consider changing are - red herrings (when you restart the map just because you took a wrong turn, maybe put something worth exploring on the dead ends, or make it an optional achievement to collect all the dots/boosts?) and the relatively loose controls (it was a bit frustrating to lose points when I just try to walk through a wall), maybe a grid system can help with those. Overall I think it's a great one!
This was truly a pleasure to play, one of the hidden gems here in the jam. I love the level design, the way you teach the player things like locks work in one level by having them all in the same room, and then having us go find them, or how moving the blocks work once we're introduced to them. I found it very challenging because I realized at some point I had to start saving some of the dots that give you more moves, even though they're grouped together which would compel people to pick them up all at once. Absolutely fun!
I love this game's vibe. The ambient soundtrack really helps sell the mood.
I love a good labyrinth puzzler! I would only say that your first level was the hardest I encountered in the game. You may consider making some subtle "tutorial" levels before really increasing the size and complexity on the players. So far as I know, the limitation of 1000 steps is arbitrary, and you can set it to whatever the needs of the level demand.

The one-bit design choice really made this work. It felt like an old-school DOS game, which I definitely dig.
As far as it fits the theme... To me, it's an acceptable fit with the prompt of "out of control." It feels like a very literal interpretation, or perhaps a pre-existing idea that had "control" shoehorned into it somewhat. The game boils down to a pedometer.
That being said, that everything came down to the digits above my character's head made me really stop, slow down, and think about what I was doing. Trying to memorize the layouts proved to be a rewarding, chill experience. Except when I was running for a staircase and ran out of steps right in front of it, lol

Such a good game! It mixes so many good elements like discovery and memorization. It's relaxing and slow but also takes a lot of focus. The simplicity is beautiful and i think this is one of the top games in the jam for me!
Nice concept to only have so many steps to complete the maze. Only thing I would change is to have the number to not decrease when your running against a wall and not moving. Still fun regardless and would play again.
