About the event OVERVIEW
2024 is the 10-year anniversary of the tragic shootdown of Malaysian Airlines flight MH-17. It is an appropriate time to review where we are as an industry in dealing with the risks posed by conflict in the airspace through which airlines fly.
There are no major AVSEC events in 2024 at which conflict zone risks can be discussed or at which there is the space to collaborate on the challenges that we continue to face in making progress in safer flight operations
A group of industry-leading partners will hold an education and collaboration event focused on the risks faced by aviation conducting flights over or near conflict zones
Aviation organisations, operators, regulators and insurers, committing to steps towards standardization of lexicon and methodologies for understanding and dealing with the risks faced by flights over or near conflict zones and other airspace with risks to overflight
The event is to be focused on education and collaboration to support the industry in developing mechanisms to deal with these risks. All profits of this event will go to the charities helping the families of the victims of the MH-17 and PS752 disasters.
