Further, the study also explored the impact of different teaching pedagogies. For this purpose 150 college students were selected from the National College of Arts Lahore and Islamabad. The sample was further divided into three groups. Group A (n=50) comprised students who had been exposed to student-centered visual art, group B (n=50) consisted of students who had received teachercentered visual art and group C (n=50) comprised students who had received no visual art curriculum during elementary school years. The Raven’s Standard Progressive Matrices, Wallach & Kogan Creativity Test and the Problem Solving Ability Test were administered to measure the participants’ problem solving ability. The present paper traces the revival of Islamic calligraphy in Pakistan through the zealous pen a... more The present paper traces the revival of Islamic calligraphy in Pakistan through the zealous pen and brush of the Sufi Artist Sadequain. Islamic Calligraphy originated as an Arabic script to preserve the holy verses of the Quran into beautifully written form. Therefore, it embraces a spiritual character as conveying the divine message of the Holy Quran to the whole world. Kufic is the oldest form of the Arabic script. Initially, it emphasized straight and angular strokes. However, the advance progression of Arabic calligraphy enhanced the Kufic writing in remarkably beautiful script. Like many other forms of Islamic art, calligraphy also went through revolutionary changes from time to time and origin to origin. The region of Pakistan also further enriched the art of calligraphy with transnational modernism through the brush of Sadequain who is known as a man responsible for the Renaissance of calligraphic art in the county. Especially, the village of Musazai is the main pottery production centre in the district. The potters locally known as "kulal" work hard day and night. The adult male potters are mainly responsible for the production of large pots but they work with the support and full involvement of their other family members as well. These potters use pit wheels and traditional techniques of pottery making that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Muslims developed magnificent paradisical gardens during Timurid Kingdom in Persia and Central Asia and then during Mughal Empire in the Indian Subcontinent. The Mughals laid a unique style of gardens which was symbolic in design. The present study examines the relationship between the physical and symbolic features of Mughal gardens. The paper considers the example of Shalamar Gardens Lahore to examine this relationship.

The present paper attempted to explore the impact of gender on social support, social isolation a... more The present paper attempted to explore the impact of gender on social support, social isolation and loneliness (social and emotional) among senior citizens. In order to assess the study constructs 6-Item (short) De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale (1985), 6-item (short) scale developed by Hawthorne (2006) and, Social Support Scale developed by Malik (2002) were used. Standardized back translation procedure was used for the translation of the measures into Urdu. Purposive convenient sampling technique was used to draw the sample of 500 senior citizens from both urban and rural areas of the various districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The age of the participants ranged between 60 to 90 years (M = 67.59, SD= 7.54). -test analysis revealed significant gender differences on social support and its sub constructs. Moreover results demonstrated non-significant gender differences for isolation and loneliness.
