The study examines the influence of the public solid waste management in Wudil Township and its residents, which is one of few demonstration of urban and regional planning projects under the studio exercise orientation of utility planning in Wudil local government area, Kano State. It exposes students into Spatial Analysis and techniques in management of municipal solid waste (sanitary and solid) in Wudil, through studying the source of waste, mode of collection, transportation and disposal of the waste. Approximately about 700 tons of solid waste is generated on Daily basis at Wudil Township, the waste generated comes from residential areas, administrative centers, markets, schools and higher institutions of learning. It’s observed that there is no adequate dumpsite within Old Township and somewhere in New Township of the study area it’s also observed that open dumping is the most backward method of waste disposal that is currently practice in the town. The waste generated is mostly off-loaded on wheel barrow on daily basis and taken to designated disposal sites behind Tasha, kasuwa, and nearest ponds in the town. However, because of poor waste management system, the disposal of solid waste at old town is mostly along road sides and drainages. The study concluded that centrally located waste collection points should be established, proper waste disposal sites should be located and monitored by the local government, introduce management continuing program of public awareness concerning waste management. Creation of waste collection agency or board within the town and co-operation is required among communities A properly sited engineered landfill should be constructed. Operation of this site should be contracted to the private sector.
