Various surgical positions also affects haemodynamics, lithotomy position increases the systolic arterial pressure from the sub extremities with the effect of auto transfusion. Study was designed to compare haemodynamic changes in supine and lithotomy position during spinal anaesthesia, also to compare pharmacological effect and side effect of ropivacaine and bupivacaine in subarachnoid block as secondary outcome variables Material & Methods: Prospective randomized study includes a total of 120 ASA I-II patients who underwent elective haemorrhoidectomy, fissurectomy, TURP and hernia repair. Patients randomly assigned in four groupsGroup B (Supine),Group B (Lithotomy), Group R (Supine), and Group R (Lithotomy) based on patients position and type of hyperbaric drug (ropivacaine or bupivacaine) used. Intraoperatively haemodynamic parameters, level of sensory block, onset...

Various adjuncts are being used to prolong the duration of analgesia. This study aims to compare analgesic efficacy of midazolam and fentanyl as an adjunct to intrathecal hyperbaric bupivacaine. We studied total duration of postoperative analgesia as primary outcome variable and thecharacteristics of the block, hemodynamic variable and adverse effects as secondary outcome variable. Material and Methods: The present prospective, randomized, double-blind study was undertaken on ninety American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) I-II patients, 20–50 yrs. of age, undergoing elective lower abdominal gynaecological surgeries under spinal anaesthesia. Patients were randomized into three group of 30 each using chit in box method. In group B, patients received 15 mg hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% with 0.4 ml normal saline, group M, received 15 mg hyperb...

Neurological complications are rare following spinal anesthesia. We are reporting neurological complication in a patient the following appendectomy under SAB with unsuspected coagulopathy. The complication was noticed early and managed conservatively with a high dose of intravenous steroid and improved drastically in a short period.

The zinc-supplemented diet seemed to retard the induction of carcinogenesis, whereas a low-zinc diet had the opposite effect. Once initial cellular changes had been induced the supplementary zinc seemed to accelerate their further advancement. Zinc-deficiency in animals fed a copper/zinc low-zinc diet was reflected in the plasma and liver zinc levels as well as in the copper/zinc ratio. The development of cancer was accompanied by a decrease in plasma zinc and an increase in the plasma copper/zinc ratio as well as in the liver zinc. These changes were most remarkable in the zinc-supplemented group.
