Prioritizing one over the other can cause distress in one’s life. Every individual plays an important role in their work and non-work/personal life with the aim of fulfilling their needs, but it’s not always easy to find a balance, which may cause a conflict. The reasons behind this conflict vary according to different professional constraints such as working hours, work environment, nature of job, and interpersonal relations. Non-work and personal factors such as: marital status, number of children, home environment, age, gender, and location may also contribute. This paper aims to study the importance of work-life balance in reducing role conflict among academic staff in the Middle Eastern region.

Sojourner identity conflict is a foundational issue in culture shock and can promote or limit positive relationships between Saudi and American students. It is important to study Saudi sojourners' cultural backgrounds and the factors that inhibit or promote assimilation into their host culture to ensure the success of cultural exchange through providing data needed to learn how to best ameliorate the dissonance caused by identity conflict. By employing a phenomenological approach, this research provides findings relating to acculturation strategies of sojourners to analyze these processes and their impact on intrapersonal identity conflict. Key themes are discussed in the areas of: perceptions of the United States, study experiences, living experiences, successful versus unsuccessful coping strategies, extent of social support networks, percepti...

Human resource information systems (HRIS) and human resource accounting (HRA) are some of the components of strategic human resource management that have experienced tremendous changes. This study examines the complementary relationship between HRA and HRIS. The study’s findings help to address the existing gap in literature regarding the link between the two. The study utilizes a qualitative descriptive research design in which a sample of 17 participants is included. Data is collected using a structured self-administered questionnaire and analyzed through thematic analysis. The study found that HRIS applications and tools support HRA activities whereas HRA activities ensure HRIS generates complete and accurate information regarding an organization’s human resource. Insights obtained from the study findings can be used to promote better integration of HRA into HRIS tools and...

The study begins by defining organizational agility, and then examining four specific strategic HR models in depth: the high-performance model, the strategic fit model, the high commitment model, and the best practices model. For the high-performance model, innovation is highlighted as a key factor. For the strategic alignment model, it was found that HR management structure needs to predict future patterns in the external work environment. The high commitment model focuses on career path, job flexibility, motivation, work teams, and job relationship stability for employees. The best practice model looks at overall organizational strategy. A review of the literature in this field shows that, as predicted by the research hypotheses, all of these HR practices enhance and organiza...

To assess this relationship, the researcher conducted a survey of Saudi Arabian students studying in the United States, which collected information on exposure variables, as well as employing Leong and Ward’s (2000) Ethno-Cultural Identity Conflict Scale (EICS). A Pearson correlation test was conducted to examine the relationship between the Saudi sojourners’ intercultural exposure and their identity conflict scores to conclude that there is not a relationship between exposure and identity conflict.
