In the context of CSR’s function in corporate governance, this study specifically focuses on the Europe 2020: European Union’s Growth Strategy, and its corresponding directives related to CSR. Not only are the Member States of the EU requested to comply with the regulations, and laws, but the candidate countries are also expected to improve their sustainability performances as well as their national frameworks to foster social responsibility (European Commission, Europe 2020 – EU – wide headline targets for economic growth. Bu calismanin amaci planlama eylem ve stratejilerinde kent iklimi verilerinden nasil faydalanilabilecegini ortaya koymak icin literatur taramasi sonucunda belirlenen araclari tanimlamaktir. Coping and adaptive capacities of related systems exposed to climate change have impacts on subsistence today and in the future. For this reason determination of vulnerability of these systems to climate change is a vital issue of management. This research develops a method to exhibit vulnerabilities of cities to climate change in terms of social, economical, environmental, institutional and spatial aspects, and employs city of Ankara as a case. With this aim different vulnerability studies have been reviewed. Analysis of the vulnerability of Ankara to climate change has been based on a set of indicators. Purpose This paper aims to find out what product features become salient when consumers are expos... more Purpose This paper aims to find out what product features become salient when consumers are exposed to many market offerings, demonstrating how choice set size influences construal mindset, which then affects the type of product consumers choose. Design/methodology/approach Experiment 1 provides preliminary evidence that being exposed to a large (vs small) choice set may drive people to focus more on the feasibility (i.e. a secondary feature) of a product and less on the desirability (i.e. a primary feature) when making a choice. Experiment 2 unveils the serial mediating roles of construal level and importance of price/design. Findings Consumers are more likely to select feasible (i.e. affordable) market offerings and not desirable (i.e. well-designed) ones when choosing from a large (vs small) choice set. How society affects public welfare and businesses via boycotts has become increasingly important ... more How society affects public welfare and businesses via boycotts has become increasingly important in a connected world. Yet, research on the topic remains scant and focuses mostly on why consumers boycott. This study moves beyond motivations of why consumers participate in boycotts, and examines instead, why individuals are not willing to boycott. This is important because the accounts for non-participation may not be the exact opposite of the reasons to participate. Informants’ reasons for not boycotting were classified into three broad themes: “out of sight, out of mind,” “urge for freedom and self-defence,” and “counterarguments – scepticism or accounts.” The hermeneutic analysis provides a framework for understanding boycott failures.

This chapter highlights the facts about financial crises and their fundamental causes on specific... more This chapter highlights the facts about financial crises and their fundamental causes on specific incidents, including the 1929 Great Depression that lasted until the early-1940s, 1997 Asian Financial Crises, 1998 Russian Financial Crises, and the Liquidity Crises of 2008, and makes a comparison among them and their various outcomes. In doing so, the study specifies the cues that emerge in the financial system that may help governments predict upcoming financial crises through those early warning signals. This case study specifically analyses the Turkish Banking System that was restructured after the enormous financial crises in Turkey in 2001, which caused many Turkish banks to collapse. However, the precautions taken in the aftermath of the financial turmoil allowed them to survive the liquidity crises in 2008. The indicators of an upcoming crisis are examined, the lessons learned from this case are analyzed, and important recommendations to overcome banking crises are provided.

The choice overload (CO) phenomenon, whereby having many options leads to negative consequences, ... more The choice overload (CO) phenomenon, whereby having many options leads to negative consequences, has been studied widely in psychology and marketing. However, empirical evidence of CO in the tourism context is limited, even though people often encounter numerous choices (e.g., vacation destinations, airfares, hotels, tours) at different stages when planning their holidays. Investigating CO in tourism and hospitality is important because (online) travel advisors are providing tourists with numerous choices, yet they do not know whether or not these decision makers are content after choosing from these large choice sets. This chapter proposes to review and apply insights garnered from the CO literature to tourism research. Accordingly, the chapter proposes five groups of solutions for tourists and travel advisors to avoid CO effects: reducing decision task difficulty, reducing choice-set complexity, reducing preference uncertainty, focusing on decision goals rather than the means to achieve those goals, and adopting appropriate decision-making styles.

Results suggest that, relative to people choosing from a small destination portfolio, people who choose from a large destination portfolio are less satisfied and more regretful about their choice. Choosing a destination from large choice-sets makes people confused, and then they become less certain about their choice and subsequently have less satisfaction and more regret. Hence, a critical consideration is essential for travel agents when providing destination choices to tourists. The findings add evidence of choice overload effects to the current literature of travel destination choice and contribute to choice overload literature by showing evidence of choice overload effects in complex service contexts, especially in holiday destination choices. A petition is a document signed by numerous people, announcing a demand that requires a corporati... more A petition is a document signed by numerous people, announcing a demand that requires a corporation or public entity to take an action to remedy a transgression via essential course of practices. Signing a petition to support a positive cause or a boycott call, as an upshot of a negative cause worth boycotting, may be less taxing for consumers than partaking in boycotts organized by boycott organizers. Thanks to the internet and social media, hundreds of thousands of online petitions are created worldwide each year with millions of signatures supporting various causes (Antonetti & Manika, 2017; Wright, 2016). This raises a question as to whether such increases in requests to boycott positively or negatively impact consumers' willingness to enact anticonsumption. This study explores the effect of choice overload on consumers signing a petition in support of a boycott call.
