I... more The article examines the issue of performance management and its key role in modern management. It seeks the practical aspects of theories from the field of business psychology that are related to the management of work performance. For this purpose, a brief overview of the theoretical constructs of motivation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment is provided. The purpose of the review is to present which of the constructs provides the most appropriate basis for specific activities to support the performance management process. The basis of the article is the idea that affective commitment is most strongly related to work performance, and concrete guidelines are given with which management can work on systematically improving the work performance.

The article presents the results of a field experiment that uses ‘nudge’ type influences as the c... more The article presents the results of a field experiment that uses ‘nudge’ type influences as the content of text messages targeting a specific group of debtors of one of the fast loans company’s operating in Bulgaria. This is a group consisting of so-called ‘contactless’ clients, the ones that stop paying their instalments and cut all the communication with their creditor during the COVID 19 isolation phase. We define the term nudge and also explain the differences between the traditional debt collection process and the behavioural approach to collection. We reveal the impact of nudging sms messages that make debtors feel committed to reciprocate, which is a specific automatic effect on the decision-making process. Those text messages significantly increased the probability of the debtors responding to the invitation for credit restructuring, compared to when the standard message was sent. The article presents the results of a field experiment that uses 'nudge' type influences as the c... more The article presents the results of a field experiment that uses 'nudge' type influences as the content of text messages targeting a specific group of debtors of one of the fast loans companies operating in Bulgaria. This is a group consisting of so-called 'contactless' clients, the ones that stop paying their instalments and cut all the communication with their creditor during the COVID-19 isolation phase. The authors define the term 'nudge' and also explain the differences between the traditional debt collection process and the behavioural approach to collection. They reveal the impact of nudging SMS messages that make debtors feel committed to reciprocate, which is a specific automatic effect on the decision-making process. Текстът е организиран в пет части и следва няколко взаимосвързани логически нишки. В началото се прави кратък обзор на това как темата за българската национална идентичност е разглеждана от предходни автори и научни колективи. Поставя се и фокус върху изясняване на идентичността като научно понятие – включително индивидуална, групова и в последствие – национална. След това се представя теоретичният модел на В. Волкан, който извежда маркерите за идентичност на голямата група под формата на избрана групова травма и споделена гордост.

The purpose of the article is, by disclosing some of the flaws and failures of such programmes, to offer new solutions directed towards overcoming automatic defence mechanisms; a coping technique that reduces anxiety which hinders personal development by making individuals unwilling to learn and act outside their usual comfort zone of behaviours.

Based on the survey the authors define 2 target competencies, namely conflict management and empathic interaction. These skills are considered a part of the scope of emotional intelligence and its constituent dimensions and authors use Daniel Goleman’s ability-based model as a base for their conceptual frame and theoretical explanations. For this purpose, psychometric questionnaires 3D ECI (3-Dimensional Emotional Competencies Inventory) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) – C Scale (Organizational Citizenship Behavior – Checklist Scale) were used. The results of the study show correlations between individual competencies of emotional intelligence such as Maintaining Relationships and Managing Social Situations within the dimensions of organizational citizenship behavior. В студията се разглеждат въпроси свързани с приложни аспекти от теорията за Емоционална интелиген... more В студията се разглеждат въпроси свързани с приложни аспекти от теорията за Емоционална интелигентност и подходът, с който да се отговори на осъзнатата потребността на бизнеса да развива емоционалната интелигентност на своите служители. За да се следва научен подход, в началото на изложението се обръща внимание на теоретичната основа на теорията, като се дефинира понятието емоционална интелигентност и се мотивира изборът на теоретичен модел, през който то да бъде разглеждано. След това се подчертава нуждата от достъп до валидни методологии за развиване на емоционална интелигентност – предизвикателство, което все още стои пред бизнеса. Също се прави кратък обзор на някои добри практики, на базата на които се достига до заключения по посока кои компетенции на ЕИ се развиват най – успешно в рамките на организационни инициативи. Студията продължава с представяне апробацията на тренинг методология, насочена и проведена в сферата на здравеопазването, а именно с лица работещи като болногледачи. В тази част се представя тренинг дизайн, изграден на база смесването на различни подходи, като целта е по този начин да се постигне научаване, изразено в поведенческа промяна. След представянето на тренинг дизайна се анализира ефективността на апробираната тренинг програма, като се докладват измерените Брутен ефект, ефект на Мъртвото тегло и Нетен ефект.

Организационният климат е многокомпонентно понятие, което в голяма степен влияе върху ефективност... more Организационният климат е многокомпонентно понятие, което в голяма степен влияе върху ефективността на всяка една организация. Статията разкрива основните концептуални аспекти на конструкта и го разграничава от сродната концепция за организационна култура. След това представя методика за измерването на организационния климат, базирана на една от най-утвърдените теории, тази на Лоурънс Джеймс и Алън Джоунс. Методиката представлява широко приложим инструмент, който да е съобразен с бизнес условията и особеностите на функ циониране на организациите в България. Апробацията на инструмента се базира на извадка от 308 изследвани лица, работещи в различни сектори-производство, търговия, ИТ, здравеопазване и други. Докладват се добрите резултати от анализи, разпределението и проверката на валид ността и надеждността на въпросника. Ключови думи: Организационен климат; разлика между организационен климат и организационна култура; организационна ефективност; въпросник за измерване на организационен климат.

In conclusion, the authors open a discussion on the importance of emotional management as an essential part of any profession related to health care and underline its importance for the quality of caregiving services.

Фокусирайки се върху конструктите Емоционална интелигентност и Организационно гражданско поведение разработката изледва ролята на различните аспекти на емоционална ин- телигентност за провокиране на поведения, които влияят позитивно върху организационната ефективност и ра ботния климат. На базата на проведено научно изследва не се правят изводи и се анализират резултати, които в последствие се включват в програма за развитие на желания набор от „меки умения“, изразени като организационни граждански поведения – което от своя страна довежда до подобряване на организационната ефективност.

Фокусирайки се върху конструктите Емоционална интелигентност и Организационно гражданско поведение разработката изледва ролята на различните аспекти на емоционална ин- телигентност за провокиране на поведения, които влияят позитивно върху организационната ефективност и ра ботния климат. На базата на проведено научно изследва не се правят изводи и се анализират резултати, които в последствие се включват в програма за развитие на желания набор от „меки умения“, изразени като организационни граждански поведения – което от своя страна довежда до подобряване на организационната ефективност.

За да се следва научен подход, в началото на изложението се обръща внимание на теоретичната основа на теорията, като се дефинира понятието емоционална интелигентност и се мотивира изборът на теоретичен модел, през който то да бъде разглеждано. След това се подчертава нуждата от достъп до валидни методологии за развиване на емоционална интелигентност – предизвикателство, което все още стои пред бизнеса. Също се прави кратък обзор на някои добри практики, на базата на които се достига до заключения по посока кои компетенции на ЕИ се развиват най – успешно в рамките на организационни инициативи.
Студията продължава с представяне апробацията на тренинг методология, насочена и проведена в сферата на здравеопазването, а именно с лица работещи като болногледачи. В тази част се представя тренинг дизайн, изграден на база смесването на различни подходи, като целта е по този начин да се постигне научаване, изразено в поведенческа промяна.
След представянето на тренинг дизайна се анализира ефективността на апробираната тренинг програма, като се докладват измерените Брутен ефект, ефект на Мъртвото тегло и Нетен ефект.
improvement of certain competencies, which are part of the soft skills of professionals in the long-term care sector
in Bulgaria. Based on the survey the authors define 2 target competencies, namely conflict management and empathic
interaction. These skills are considered a part of the scope of emotional intelligence and its constituent dimensions and
authors use Daniel Goleman’s ability-based model as a base for their conceptual frame and theoretical explanations. In
order to present their thesis, the authors perform a soft skill analysis of the long-term care sector; define the construct
emotional intelligence and justify their choice of a theoretical model for the subsequent survey. On this basis, they develop
a training design for the development of these skills and present the results achieved through its pilot application. The
study includes 62 participants randomly divided into a test and control groups. The level of targeted skills is measured
(before and after) and the authors report a significant increase in those skills (empathic interaction, net effect 1.87; conflict
management, net effect 1.75). In conclusion, the authors open a discussion on the importance of emotional management as
an essential part of any profession related to health care and underline its importance for the quality of caregiving services.

programmes, to offer new solutions directed towards overcoming automatic defence
mechanisms; a coping technique that reduces anxiety which hinders personal
development by making individuals unwilling to learn and act outside their usual
comfort zone of behaviours.
