ABSTRACT The transverse magnetoresistivity of pure tungsten and molybdenum single crystals with r... more ABSTRACT The transverse magnetoresistivity of pure tungsten and molybdenum single crystals with resistivity ratios of up to 80,000 was measured in temperature range from 2 to 80 K and in magnetic fields of up to 30 T. The samples have different defect structures and dislocation densities, i.e. they contain dislocation walls formed during crystal growth and isolated dislocations produced by compression and strain under deformation. We studied the peculiarities of the electron-dislocation scattering at high magnetic fields and showed that this scattering mechanism strongly affects the magneto-transport of these transition compensated metals. The dislocation breakdown, i.e. a change of the electron orbit types due to electron scattering by isolated dislocations, was observed. We also propose that an internal static skin effect, i.e. a concentration of a dc-current near dislocation walls, may observed in these crystals.

Heusler alloys are subject of considerable interest because they exhibit a martensitic transforma... more Heusler alloys are subject of considerable interest because they exhibit a martensitic transformation (MT), a shape-memory effect and a giant magnetocaloric effect. As it is commonly believed, the pronounced magnetoelastic coupling plays a crucial role; however, the effect of alloy composition on MT is still under discussion. To describe the features of MT in Ni0.75−xMnxGa0.25 Heusler alloys, the phenomenological model that consistently considers the magnetic and lattice degrees of freedom and their mutual interplay has been developed. The magnetic entropy contribution was estimated within the framework of the microscopic approach. The proposed model allows us to describe the dependence of the martensitic transformation start temperature Ms(x) on the Mn concentration x in reasonable agreement with the experiment.

To investigate the ordering and decomposition processes in Ti-Al-X [X = Si, Zr] alloys, the Monte... more To investigate the ordering and decomposition processes in Ti-Al-X [X = Si, Zr] alloys, the Monte Carlo simulations with first-principles parametrization of interatomic interactions were employed. It was shown that the processes of ordering and the precipitation in the Ti-Al system are closely related, and the stage of homogeneous ordering precedes the formation of ordered Ti3Al particles. It was found that the duration of homogeneous ordering is very sensitive to the annealing temperature and composition of alloy, and that precipitation becomes preferable as the temperature rises. In particular, uniform ordering of alloy Ti-12 at % Al was found during long-term holding at temperature below 850 K, while annealing at 1000 K resulted in formation of ordered Ti3Al particles. The obtained results agree well with the experimental data and allow explaining the features of the microstructure formed during annealing of the Ti-Al-X alloys.

The compounds are symmetry-distinct cases of integral site occupancy for superstructure Y (space group #227, type LiMgPdSn) chosen to represent the ordered arrangements of solvent atoms (Fe), solute atoms (Fe, Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Mn, Ni, Cu), and vacancies (Va) on the sites of a body-centered cubic lattice. The model is employed in the research article " based search for late blooming phase compositions in iron alloys" (Hosseinzadeh et al., 2018) [1].

We present theoretical results on the high-temperature phase stability and phonon spectra of para... more We present theoretical results on the high-temperature phase stability and phonon spectra of paramagnetic bcc iron which explicitly take into account many-body effects. Several peculiarities, including a pronounced softening of the [110] transverse (T1) mode and a dynamical instability of the bcc lattice in harmonic approximation are identified. We relate these features to the α-to-γ and γ-to-δ phase transformations in iron. The high-temperature bcc phase is found to be highly anharmonic and appears to be stabilized by the lattice entropy.
