The model aims to predict learners' needs and typical behaviour to determine learner types at the forethought phase of Zimmerman's three-phase model (1998) to help them complete e-learning courses. This report consists of two main parts: (1) exploration of factors of SRL for e-Learning and (2) development of preliminary model of the Factors on e-learning course completion. The standardized questionnaire for SRL skills developed by Wolter, Pintrich, & Karabenic (2003) were modified and shorten based on the pilot study results with exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The final inventory consists of 40 questions with high reliability (Overall Chronbach alpha = .931). 857 college students' data were analyzed and there found four SRL factors including (1) affective, (2) cognitive, (3) help-seek, and (4) self-directed fact...

The more meaningful and customized supports mentors provide, the larger their burdens become. This study aims to design a mentor support system to reduce mentors' burden in predicting learners' behaviors and learning styles prior to a course. For the learner type prediction, the authors developed an e-Learning Self-regulated Learning Scale (eSLS) (Goda, et al., 2010). It was based on the sample items of Wolters, et al. (2003) and consisted of 40 Likert items with 4 factors: (1) affective strategies, (2) cognitive strategies, (3) help-seeking, and (4) self-Independency. This paper reports and discusses the research background and procedures for the instrument development, prediction model equation formulation, and interface design for mentors. The significance of this research is to introduce a new approach to improve online learner supports from the perspective of me...

The launch-vehicle alternatives were scaled according to optimum stagings and trajectory simulations; launch costs were estimated for each case on the basis of sizing-study results. Attention is given to fuel types and degrees of vehicle reusability.

The electrical resistivity of these alloys varies linearly with the solute concentration in the range of measurement. The Hall coefficients are small negative value compared with other ordinary metals such as copper, and decrease linearly with the solute concentration except In-Cd system, for which a minimum is found at about 5 at. % Cd. The thermoelectric power of these alloys also decreases from a small positive value in indium (+0.82 μV/deg) toward the negative direction, and there is a minimum for In-Cd system at 5 at. % Cd. The small value of the Hall coefficients, the linear changes of them, and the fall of the thermoelectric power with the solute concentration can be explained by assuming the existence of two types of carriers; one is electron-like and the other is hole-like. In order to explain the appearance of the minimum of the Hall coefficient and the thermoelectric power observed in In-Cd system, an assumption about the overlap of the Fermi surface across the boundary plane of the Brillouin zone is suggested .

In this work, we focus on the situation that occurs when specialized, sensitive data are sent to the Internet from MANET nodes. These special data types are especially susceptible to security risks such as information leak and data falsification. Therefore, it is necessary for such special data to be forwarded by a secure/trusted gateway which is under control of a trusted network administrator. However, we assume there can be multiple gateways deployed in a MANET, where the cost ineffectiveness makes it difficult for a network administrator to simultaneously manage every gateway. Because of the risk of forwarding special data through an unmaintained gateway, we propose a routing protocol which allows a source node to have all data forwarded to the Internet through a trusted gateway. To achieve desirable performance, we improve upon one of the newest routing protocols, Dynamic MANET On-demand (DYMO). Through simulations, we evaluated our proposal in comparison with the conventional DYMO protocol. The results show that our proposal achieves performance allowing MANET source nodes to choose gateways for specific data.
