We present the real-time 3D traffic simulator RASY (Real-time autonomous vehicle traffic simulato... more We present the real-time 3D traffic simulator RASY (Real-time autonomous vehicle traffic simulator developed by Yonsei University), for the modeling and analysis of various congestion scenarios, including interactions among human-driven and autonomous vehicles. Vehicles with different control models can be generated to investigate the effects of vehicle models and traffic environment on the traffic flow during simulations of congestion. A data log of the simulation can be exported for post-processing analysis. Following an analysis of simulation data under congested conditions, we found that a faster reaction time of an individual vehicle can raise the overall flow rate of a road, raising the critical vehicle density for congestion.
This paper issues an integrated control system of self-driving autonomous vehicles based on the p... more This paper issues an integrated control system of self-driving autonomous vehicles based on the personal driving preference to provide personalized comfortable driving experience to autonomous vehicle users. We propose an Occupant's Preference Metric (OPM) which is defining a preferred lateral and longitudinal acceleration region with maximum allowable jerk for users. Moreover, we propose a vehicle controller based on control parameters enabling integrated lateral and longitudinal control via preference-aware maneuvering of autonomous vehicles. The proposed system not only provides the criteria for the occupant's driving preference, but also provides a personalized autonomous self-driving style like a human driver instead of a Robocar. The simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the proposed system can maneuver the self-driving vehicle like a human driver by tracking the specified criterion of admissible acceleration and jerk.

This paper proposes a planning method based on forward path generation and backward tracking algo... more This paper proposes a planning method based on forward path generation and backward tracking algorithm for Automatic Parking Systems, especially suitable for backward parking situations. The algorithm is based on the steering property that backward moving trajectory coincides with the forward moving trajectory for the identical steering angle. The basic path planning is divided into two segments: a collision-free locating segment and an entering segment that considers the continuous steering angles for connecting the two paths. MATLAB simulations were conducted, along with experiments involving parallel and perpendicular situations.

ABSTRACT A magnetic resonant loop antenna enhancing the operating distance by improving the wirel... more ABSTRACT A magnetic resonant loop antenna enhancing the operating distance by improving the wireless power transfer efficiency of 13.56MHz RFID system was proposed. The proposed resonant antenna consists of resonant coils arranged between source coil and device coil coupled to each of them. The effects of resonant coils were measured using a 13.56MHz RFID reader and tag system in addition to simulation using RF simulator. The measurement results from RFID reader and tag show that the maximum operating distance is increased by approximately 96% and amplitude of receiving voltage on the RFID tag antenna is increased by 18% thanks to the magnetic resonance loop antenna.

ABSTRACT We propose a way of achieving maximum power and power-transfer efficiency from thermoele... more ABSTRACT We propose a way of achieving maximum power and power-transfer efficiency from thermoelectric generators by optimized selection of maximum-power-point-tracking (MPPT) circuits composed of a boost-cascaded-with-buck converter. We investigated the effect of switch resistance on the MPPT performance of thermoelectric generators. The on-resistances of the switches affect the decrease in the conversion gain and reduce the maximum output power obtainable. Although the incremental values of the switch resistances are small, the resulting difference in the maximum duty ratio between the input and output powers is significant. For an MPPT controller composed of a boost converter with a practical nonideal switch, we need to monitor the output power instead of the input power to track the maximum power point of the thermoelectric generator. We provide a design strategy for MPPT controllers by considering the compromise in which a decrease in switch resistance causes an increase in the parasitic capacitance of the switch.

Proposed dual voltage scheme provides an effective way of reducing the dynamic power consumption due to the charge recycling through the upper power rail and lower power rail separated by series connected capacitors. The additional advantage of the proposed system is that we can separate digital block and analog block depending on the requirement of operating speed and voltage swing levels.

Additionally, real-time social survey system supports the viewers to participate in a survey by synchronizing with broadcasting TV program. To ensure safe message sharing, a symmetric key based cryptography algorithm is employed to decrypt incoming and encrypt outgoing messages among participants.
ABSTRACT We have developed the single ferroelectric field-effect-transistor technology using a fe... more ABSTRACT We have developed the single ferroelectric field-effect-transistor technology using a ferroelectric SBT(SrBi2Ta2O9) and NO(Si3N4/SiO2) materials which were compatible with the standard Si CMOS process. The SBT/NO combined layer was used as a gate dielectric layer of MFISFET device. A small-sized MFISFET having 10/3um-width/length of gate was fabricated. The memory window of n-channel and p-channel MFISFET are all about 2.0 V. The threshold voltages of n-channel and p-channel MFISFET are about 1.8V and-2.1 V. The current difference between the ION(on current) and IOFF(off current) for sensing margin is more than 100 times in ID-VG hysteresis curve. The retention property of MFISFET is examined by reading drain current after writing to the gate. The drain current as a function of retention time of MFISFET using NO layer remains almost the same value of its initial value over 10 seconds at room temperature.

The sense amplifier identifies the stored data using a constant reference voltage. The stability of sensing is greatly improved approaching to DRAM level. The simulated results show that the sensing margin is improved by about 48% and about 130% with respect to remnant charge reduction and imprint shift, respectively.
